South Africa launches Rand 123bn tender for commuter trains
PASSENGER Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) has formally invited domestic and international suppliers to bid for two ten-year contracts worth up to Rand 123bn ($US 15.65bn) to design and supply 7224 vehicles to replace the entire Metrorail commuter emu fleet.
     

Zambia earmarks funds for Tazara
THE ZAMBIAN government has allocated Kwacha 40bn ($US 8m) from this year's budget to help Tanzania Zambia Railway Authority (Tazara) revamp its operations.
