The Class A4 is a class of streamlined 4-6-2 locomotive  designed by Nigel Gresley for the LNER in 1935

35 A4s were built.

4468 Mallard is the illustrious member of the class, holding the world steam record (3rd July 1938).

There are A4s in preservation, including those with mainline steam certification.
