12 years ago..In April 2000 – In Ireland, the DART system is finally extended southwards
from Bray to Greystones.
The Dublin Area Rapid Transit is an electric train service that runs along the coast of Dublin Bay. At the time of filming in 2000, the Dart operated from Bray to Howth, but the route has since been extended.(JohnTheRails on YouTube)

17th October –
The Hatfield rail crash, south of Hatfield, Hertfordshire UK, occurs
when a train traveling at 115 mph derails due to a rail that breaks under it. 4
people are killed, and there is considerable disruption to the national rail
network as the infrastructure is reviewed.
