UGL to supply locomotives to four Australian operators AUSTRALIAN locomotive manufacturer UGL has won four contracts to supply and maintain 38 diesel-electric locomotives to four railfreight operators. The total value of the four contracts is $A 190m ($US 198m).

Brunswick Rail to partner with Russian wagon builder IRJ at the 1520 rail business forum: RUSSIAN leasing company Brunswick Rail has signed a partnership agreement in Sochi with Novokuznetsk Car-Building Enterprise (NCBE) to design and manufacture gondola freight wagons. Manufacture will start next year on a new production line with the capacity to build 1000 wagons a year. Braunschweig opts for Solaris LRVs POLISH bus and tram builder Solaris is to supply 15 four-section Tramino LRVs to Braunschweig Transport (BSVAG); its second order from a German light rail operator. Yakunin urges close cooperation to realise Eurasia freight dreams IRJ at 1520 rail business forum: MR VLADIMIR Yakunin, president of Russian Railways (RZD), has emphasised the continuing need to build and foster relations with Russia's neighbours in Europe and Asia to pave the way for improved freight transport through Russia.
