Brunswick Rail secures funds for expansion
RUSSIAN rolling stock leasing company Brunswick Rail has secured a $US 250m five-year funding facility arranged by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) with the following banks: ING Bank, Raiffeisen Bank International, Société Générale, and UniCredit.
Chile – Bolivia rail link to reopen in August
REHABILITATION of the Arica to La Paz Railway (FCALP), which ceased operation in 2005 when the concessionaire filed for bankruptcy, is nearing completion and trains should start running again in August. FCALP, which connects the Chilean port of Arica with Bolivia, is a challenging railway having more than 40km of 6% gradients, curves of less than 100m radius, stretches with 27.5kg/m rail and a maximum altitude above sea level of over 4250m.
UGL to supply locomotives to four Australian operators
AUSTRALIAN locomotive manufacturer UGL has won four contracts to supply and maintain 38 diesel-electric locomotives to four railfreight operators. The total value of the four contracts is $A 190m ($US 198m).
