International Railway Journal

ISRAEL Railways (IR) has signed a cooperation agreement with the National Roads Company (NRC) for the electrification of the country's railway network, and issued an invitation to prequalify for the first phase of the project.

GEORGIAN Railway (GRZhD) has taken delivery of the first train from a second batch of five inter-city emus ordered CSR Nanjing Puzhen Rolling Stock, China, at a cost of $US 30m.

FRANCE's junior transport minister, Mr Frédéric Cuvillier, has instructed French Rail Network (RFF) to produce a plan within six months to renovate the country's rail network, and in particular its major rail corridors.

Bombardier delivers first Movia train for Singapore DTL stage 1 Canadian manufacturer Bombardier Transportation has delivered the first of 73 three-car Movia C951 driverless metro trains to Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) for use on the under-construction Downtown Line (DTL). 
      
Virgin Rail to run West Coast rail line for at least nine to 13 months
Virgin Rail Group will continue to operate the UK's West Coast rail line for another nine to 13 months after receiving a temporary contract extension from the UK Department for Transport (DfT).
