CAMBODIA's Toll Royal Railway (TRR) has begun trial operation of freight services on the newly-rehabilitated 146km section of the Southern Line between Samrong and Sihanoukville Port.

THE ISRAELI government has approved a Shekels 130m ($US 34m) investment in freight equipment with the aim of increasing railfreight volumes from seven million tonnes to 13.5 million tonnes within five years.

HP to improve energy use on Kazakhstan rail network JSC TransTelecom, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan's railway system operator Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZh) has awarded a $62m contract with HP Kazakhstan to help in reducing energy use on the country's rail network. 
       
Alstom to deliver additional Regiolis trains to France
French state rail operator SNCF, on behalf of the Pays de la Loire Region, has placed an order with Alstom to supply five Regiolis regional trains from the Coradia Polyvalent range for about €25m. 
      
Hima-Sella to provide UK rail line with communications control system
UK-based systems integration company Hima-Sella will deliver a new operational communications control system (CCS) for the Central Line.
