THE latest addition to the metro network in the Chinese city of Chengdu was inaugurated on June 8  with the launch of commercial services on the 8.7km western extension of Line 2..
 
FOLLOWING an international tender, the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) has issued a provisional notification of contract award to a consortium of Sojitz, Japan, and Larsen & Toubro, India, for Packages 1 and 2 of the Rewari – Iqbalgarh section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor.

    KiwiRail to improve freight performance with TTG Energymiser
    New Zealand's national rail operator KiwiRail has signed an agreement with TTG Transportation Technology to use its Energymiser connected driver advisory system (C-DAS) to reduce energy consumption and environmental emissions, as well as improve the punctuality of trains. 
           
    Network Rail to start rebuilding Finedon Station Road bridge in Northamptonshire
    Network Rail is about to start the reconstruction of Finedon Station Road bridge in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, as part of a £70m programme to cut journey times on the Midland Main Line between London and Sheffield in the UK. 

           
    Hitachi wins electrical and mechanical equipment order for Vietnam metro rail project
    Japanese infrastructure firm Hitachi has secured a JPY37bn ($384m) order from the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to provide electrical and mechanical equipment for the under-construction urban railway Line 1 between Ben Thanh and Suoi Tien in the city. 

           
    Eurotunnel, ENPC and Fondation des Ponts to study rail science
