Iain McGeachin's Sunshine Express aims to travel by train over 50,000km around the world, only occasionally leaving the rails to fly over/sail across the blue bits on the map.

Iain has now completed the first leg of his trip around the world by train. Having reached India, Iain is taking a well deserved break before resuming his epic trip.
News on that front as it comes to hand.
Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible!!

Planning for the North American leg of the 100 Trains journey is now well under way. The trip will take place in December and January.

    DfT seeks new private operator for East Coast mainline
    The British Department for Transport (DfT) has launched a competition to find a new private-sector operator for the 632km East Coast mainline, which links London, Peterborough, Doncaster, Leeds, York, Newcastle and Edinburgh. 


           
    AECOM to provide services for 15 infrastructure projects in South Africa
    AECOM Technology Corporation has been contracted to provide services for 15 separate infrastructure projects at locations around Cape Town, Postmasburg and Saldanha, in South Africa. 

           
    Alstom contracted to upgrade Virgin's Pendolino fleet
    Amtrak is expected to commence field testing of its new long-distance passenger rail cars in the final quarter of 2013, as production of the first rail cars units nears completion.. 

           
    Serco to operate and maintain Dubai Metro until 2019
    UK-based traffic management services provider Serco Group has extended its contract with the Dubai Government Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) until September 2019 to continue to operate and maintain the Dubai Metro.
