Birmingham New Street redevelopment: Stephenson Tower demolition (Network Rail Media) 2nd February 2012

The demolition of Stephenson Tower is the first step towards the redevelopment of the south side of Birmingham New Street station. The redevelopment will include an upgrade of the Pallasades shopping centre and a new John Lewis department store creating new jobs and stimulating regeneration in the south side of the city centre.

Situated in the heart of the city centre, demolishing the tower by controlled explosion was never an option. Over 6 months, the project team carefully demolished the tower piece by piece.
