RVR to upgrade rail infrastructure (NTVKenya) 1st March 2012

The Rift Valley Railways is set to rehabilitate the Mombasa-Kampala railway line at a cost of 23 million dollars or an equivalent of 1.8 billion shillings within the next 12 months. The rehabilitation of the tracks will make trains that currently run along the railway at speeds below that of the fastest man on the planet attain speeds of between 45 to 70 kilometres per hour. Rift Valley Railways Group Chief Executive Brown Ondego says the full impact of the turnaround being effected by RVR will be felt a year from now.
