BART recommends Bombardier for railcar contract
The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Agency in San Francisco, US, has recommended Bombardier as the recipient of a $2.5bn contract to build 775 new railcars.       
                   
MBTA extends commuter rail line to Wickford stationThe Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) has opened Wickford Junction commuter rail station in Rhode Island, US.       
                   
Cubic wins rail ticketing equipment maintenance contract in AustraliaCubic Transportation Systems, a unit of US-based Cubic, has won a $65m three-year contract from Rail Corporation New South Wales (RailCorp) to maintain ticketing equipment and provide related services for passenger rail operations in Sydney, Australia.       
                   
Masabi and MBTA to launch first smartphone rail ticketing system in the USUK-based developer of mobile ticketing technology Masabi and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) have partnered to launch the US's first smartphone rail ticketing system in Boston, towards the end of 2012.
