BEARING manufacturer SKF has opened a new railway test centre in Russia at its Tver railway bearing factory near Moscow.

THE JSC Partnership Fund overseeing the IPO of Georgian Railway (GR) has announced the price range of shares that will be available for sale in the form of Global Depositary Receipts (GDRs) on the London Stock Exchange from May 24.
NSW’s RailCorp is to split in two
RAIL Corporation New South Wales (RailCorp), which is responsible for the operation and maintenance of Sydney's regional and metropolitan rail network, is to be split into two separate entities under plans announced today by NSW transport minister Ms Gladys Berejiklian.
Deadline extended for Kuala Lumpur metro train tender
THE closing date for a tender to supply 58 four-car trains and equip a new 51km metro line under construction in Kuala Lumpur is expected to be extended from this week to June 14 because only one of the six companies which prequalified on March 6 has so far submitted a bid.

Train weighing system installed to protect Bangladesh bridge
BRITISH company Railweight has installed in-motion train weighing systems on each side of the 4.8km Jamuna River road/rail bridge in Bangladesh. The bridge, opened in 1998 to connect the two parts of Bangladesh's hitherto divided rail network, and is currently used by up to 17 freight trains a day which are subject to a weight restriction to prevent further cracks from forming in the bridge.

John Holland wins Regional Rail Link contract in AustraliaThe Government of Australia has awarded a A$570m ($569.5m) contract to Hochtief subsidiary John Holland to build a section of the Regional Rail Link project in Victoria, Australia.       
                   
Downer to build train depot for Auckland Transport in New ZealandDowner New Zealand has won a NZ$40m ($31m) contract from Auckland Transport to build the Wiri Maintenance and Stabling Depot for Auckland's new electric trains.
