Olympic National Rail travel bulletin: Monday 30 July 2012 (ATOC) 31st July 2012

On the first weekday of competition, the railway has significantly increased capacity to carry both commuters and the hundreds of thousands of spectators travelling to London 2012 events, including equestrianism, diving and gymnastics.

• Train companies are providing 565,276 extra seats today, operating over 4,158,341 seats in total by running additional trains and lengthening services.
• Hundreds of staff from Network Rail and train companies will be at London Bridge today, which will be exceptionally busy this evening.
• Fully staffed trains are on standby at different points of the capital, ready to head off to stations should they become especially busy.
• Over 315,000 spectators have now taken advantage of the special Games rail tickets, and they will remain on sale throughout the Olympics and Paralympics.
  

The Transport Co-Ordination Centre, set up specifically for the 2012 Games, will keep transport operators informed of each other’s plans and how people are using the public transport system, and help operators provide passengers with the most up-to-date travel information.
Over the Olympics, rail users are advised to plan ahead before travelling by visiting the Get Ahead of the Games website and to give themselves plenty of extra time to get to their final destination. Special arrangements are in place to manage the level of demand at London Bridge stations this evening where there will be no entry to the through platforms (1-6) between 6pm and 10pm.
As at midday today, 93% of services were running to schedule across the network.
