THE first of 24 Flexity Classic LRVs was officially handed over today by Bombardier to Krakow Transport Authority (MPK) in the presence of the city's mayor Mr Jacek Majchrowski.

AFTER several consecutive years in the red, Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) railfreight subsidiary Rail Cargo Austria (RCA) is seeking to improve its financial situation by selling wagons to one of its subsidiaries.

FRANCE's junior transport minister, Mr Frédéric Cuvillier, has instructed French Rail Network (RFF) to produce a plan within six months to renovate the country's rail network, and in particular its major rail corridors.

US FTA allocates $942.2m for San Francisco Third Street light rail extension The US Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has provided $942.2m to extend the San Francisco Third Street light rail system to the Chinatown area. 
      
Network Rail starts Salford Crescent station upgrade
Network Rail has started work on a £12m project to make more room for passengers on the platform at Salford Crescent station in Greater Manchester in the UK. 
      
HP to improve energy use on Kazakhstan rail network
JSC TransTelecom, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan's railway system operator Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZh) has awarded a $62m contract with HP Kazakhstan to help in reducing energy use on the country's rail network. 
       
Balfour Beatty wins second phase electrification contract in UK
Infrastructure group Balfour Beatty has secured a £50m contract from Network Rail in the UK to undertake electrification and signalling works under Phase 2 of the North West Triangle scheme.
