Indian Ministry of Railways gets the go-ahead for Tupul-Imphal extension The Indian Ministry of Railways has received approval from the country's Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure to extend the new 26.9km broad gauge line from Tupul to Imphal. 
      
EIB to finance Polish rail upgrades
The European Investment Bank (EIB) is providing two loans worth €165m to Polish rail operator PKP to support the upgrade of key rail corridors across the country. 
      
TasRail awards wagon fleet contract to CNR Australia
Tasmania's state-owned rail company TasRail has awarded a contract to CNR Australia for a new fleet of wagons as part of plans to provide safer and more efficient freight rail services. 
      
Bidding for Philippine LRT-1 Cavite extension project set for January
Bidding for the PHP60bn ($1.3bn) light rail transit (LRT) Line 1 Cavite extension project in Manila, the Philippines, will be carried out in January 2013 as scheduled, according to the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC).
