THE first container train with a CIM/SMGS common consignment note was despatched by Russian Railways Logistics (RZDL) in cooperation with its Chinese subsidiary YuXinOu Logistics on October 31.
The train, which left Chongqing, China, destined for Poland and Germany, was carrying 42 40ft containers for various customers. Kaztransservice, Kazakhstan, and Belintertrans, Belarus were also involved in the inaugural service as RZDL's transit partners.


THE Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment in cooperation with Dutch railway infrastructure manager Prorail have started planning the construction of a new link between the Betuweroute dedicated freight line and the 's-Hertogenbosch - Utrecht line.


MORE trains are now running on the New York rail network following the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy earlier this week. But it will be several weeks before all the repairs will be completed

Network Rail gets UK DfT approval to build North Doncaster Chord Network Rail has received approval from the UK Department for Transport (UK DfT) to build a £45m railway flyover at Shaftholme, north of Doncaster in the UK. 
      
New York MTA resumes partial services after Hurricane Sandy
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) in New York, US, resumed partial services on Thursday, following the suspension of rail operations in the region due to Hurricane Sandy, which hit the US East Coast on Monday night. 
      
Bombardier starts construction of new bogie centre in Germany
Canadian rail car manufacturer Bombardier has started construction of its new Bogie Technical Centre in Siegen, Germany. 
      
New South Wales to develop eight new railway stations for North West Rail Link
The New South Wales (NSW) Government in Australia has unveiled plans for eight new railway stations along Sydney's A$8bn ($7.96bn) North West Rail Link (NWRL).
