A New Partnership to Share Passenger Rail News

RAIL Magazine is proud to announce a new partnership with On-Shed and The Railway Chronicle – which fall under the Steam Tube umbrella – to bring readers of both outlets access to the latest and highest quality content on passenger rail around the world.

You're already familiar with RAIL's comprehensive coverage of passenger rail in North America – from high-speed rail to streetcars – through our quarterly digital and print editions, the @RAILMag handle on Twitter and this blog. Now, we're excited to work with Steam Tube and their component platforms to share the latest development in passenger rail overseas and especially the United Kingdom through Steam Tube's myriad sources and links.

From our inception, RAIL has made a conscious decision to focus almost exclusively on the renaissance of passenger rail in North America for a few reasons (although, we have included a few feature-length pieces on individual elements of international rail, such as our profiles of the London Jubilee Line in RAIL #19 and Dublin's Luas light-rail system in RAIL #26).

First, there's no shortage of fine publications and media outlets relaying the latest news on passenger rail elsewhere. Second, the passenger rail renaissance in the United States, Canada and Mexico encompasses a narrative unique to this continent's transportation history, one that is not very similar to that of Europe and Asia, in particular. Lastly, our editorial offices and staff are located here in Washington, D.C., and journalism is at its best when it can observe and interact with its subjects as directly as possible.

By sharing content and resources with Steam Tube's portfolio of media, we can offer RAIL readers access to international passenger rail news that's developed, compiled and organized by those who know the trends, topics and issues the best. We'll, in turn, share our knowledge and insights on what's happening here with our friends overseas.

So, stay tuned to posts on this blog, @RAILMag on Twitter and upcoming editions of RAIL – as well as Steam Tube's family of pages – to see this exciting new alliance in action!
