This year, the NYMR will celebrate forty years of running its train services between Grosmont and Pickering. The official re-opening, by the Duchess of Kent was on 1st May 1973 after six years hard work by volunteers to bring the route back into use. Over the following forty years, volunteers have continued to be deeply involved in developing and improving the line until it has become this country’s finest heritage railway.

Now, we invite you to join us as we plan and work towards another forty years of success. We need volunteers with the vast multitude of skills now required to run a heritage railway in the current environment.
