French transport and energy infrastructure group Alstom has unveiled a life-sized model of Citadis Compact tram for Greater Avignon. 

       
Bombardier completes testing EBI Gate 2000 level crossing system
German rail technology provider Bombardier Transportation has completed testing its EBI Gate 2000 level crossing system in Zmigród, Poland. 

       
Hollysys ZPW-2000s Track Circuit successfully tested in Beijing trial railway line
China-based automation and control technologies provider Hollysys Automation Technologies has successfully applied its proprietary ZPW-2000s Track Circuit in Beijing's Xiaohongmen to Baiziwan trial railway line. 

       
Mülheim Transport Authority orders Bombardier Flexity Classic trams
Germany's Mülheim Transport Authority (MVG) has placed orders with Bombardier Transportation to deliver €27m ($37m) worth of additional Flexity Classic trams.

    Gotthard Base Tunnel test trains launched

    SWISS transport minister Mrs Doris Leuthard launched the first official test train into the 57km Gotthard Base Tunnel on December 16, marking the 900-day countdown to the completion of the project, which is scheduled for December 2016.

    Spain splits Adif to keep debt off government books 

    THE Spanish Government last week approved the splitting of Adif into two separate bodies in order to avoid the infrastructure manager's spiralling debt from being included in the national debt, in accordance with recent changes to the European System of National and Regional Accounts (ESA 2010).
