As the Dawlish sea wall repair end comes in sight, thoughts are given to an alternative route..but where? The Hastings folk would rather like their railway back...but it's "closed until further notice".
On the other hand, a currently closed line into Wisbech might be reopened.... soon... maybe....


A bit of a hoo-hah is developing over the decision to take stock away from the Trans Pennine route to help out in the Chilterns.....whilst north easterners can look forward, hopefully, to more comfortable rides than those currently experienced in "ageing Pacers".


High speed rail planners can learn much from the Japanese... (Shinkansen etc)..and the Chinese, who have installed a 17,000 ton swing bridge to keep the railway running during a major road improvement programme in Wuhan...
