Synopsis:
True High Speed Rail promotes economic integration between viable city pairs. Countries invest in harbours, airports and highways, but are reluctant to spend money on true high-speed infrastructure.
Singapore and Kuala Lumpur are an example of a viable city pair and the current plan to link the two cities with high speed rail presents the opportunity for greater economic integration between Malaysia and Singapore, significantly enhancing their global competitiveness.
True high-speed rail is rail can travel over 300 km/hour, is exceptionally safe and environmentally superior to all other modes of transportation. It provides completely safe, reliable, fast and frequent (3-10 trains per hour) service.
