Fallout from holiday period overrunning engineering works continues, with Mark Carne, Chief Executive Network Rail and Robin Gisby, Managing Director Network Operations facing the music before the House of Commons Transport Select Committee next Wednesday(7th). An easy ride is not expected......Though travellers may well find their rides somewhat easier, since now the train operating companies have signed up to a code of practice to advise passengers of their cheapest fares...


China's infrastructure projects continue, with 10 metro lines opened...and Russia is building a high speed train that could travel between Moscow and Beijing in 48 hours......

Chair of the Transport Committee, Louise Ellman MP, said today,
“I am deeply concerned about the impact the over-running of the engineering work at King’s Cross and Paddington had on passengers. Today I am calling Network Rail’s Chief Executive and Managing Director of Network Operations to appear before the Transport Committee next week, to account for the disruption and failures in contingency planning.”
