On what could probably be described as the 'first day of summer' in the wonderful setting of the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire a significant Railway event took place.
The British Transport Pensioners Federation had initiated the design & installation of this Memorial to all Railwaymen. It was funded by donation & the sponsorship of a number of train operating companies & created by H.L.Perfitt - Stonemasons of Diss in Norfolk. Further information can be seen in the opening & closing credits and if you were not one of the many who attended the event I will not spoil the surprise by describing the memorial further.
In view of the fact that very little (if any) media coverage took place, I hope this video will help to redress that fact & will be enjoyed by everyone associated with the Railway Industry or indeed just has that 'passion' for trains.
