On a busy Day 11 of the Olympics, train companies are providing significant amounts of extra capacity to get hundreds of thousands of spectators to events and home again.
• Train companies are providing 571,276 extra seats and over 4.1 million seats in total today.
• With spare trains and drivers on standby, train companies have been able to react quickly when stations become busy to provide extra capacity when needed.
• More than 300 extra customer information screens have been set up at stations in and around London to provide passengers with the most up-to-date travel information.
The Transport Co-Ordination Centre, set up specifically for the 2012 Games, keeps transport operators informed of each other’s plans and how people are using the public transport system, and helps operators provide passengers with the most up-to-date travel information.
Over the Olympics, rail users are advised to plan ahead before travelling by visiting the Get Ahead of the Games website and to give themselves plenty of extra time to get to their final destination.
As at midday today, 95% of services were running to schedule across the network.
