THE city of Foz do Iguaçu in the Brazilian state of Paraná will present a plan for a 40km light rail line to the Federal government's Cities Ministry today. The estimated Reais 200m ($US 99.5m) project is designed to be included in the urban mobility projects sector of Brazil's growth acceleration plan (PAC) for medium-sized cities with populations of 250,000-700,000 people.

THE government of New South Wales issued a draft 20-year transport plan today which outlines around $A 100bn ($US 104.24bn) in improvements to transport infrastructure in the Sydney metropolitan area.

THE Bulgarian capital Sofia celebrated the opening of its second metro line on August 31 with a day of free rides, a music festival, and an exhibition of Roman artefacts unearthed during construction.

NPRT to supply trains for intercity rail project in China
