ANSALDOBREDA and Chongqing Chuanyi Automation (SICC) have established a joint venture based in Chongqing, China, that will produce and develop electric traction systems, auxiliary services and train monitoring control systems for metro trains.

CRM-Vossloh Track Maintenance, a joint venture between Vossloh Rail Services and CRM, China, has secured a contract with the operator of the Beijing - Shanghai high-speed line to provide its High Speed Grinding (HSG) service.

SWEDEN's infrastructure manager Trafikverket says it has received applications from 27 passenger operators and 13 freight companies to run trains on the national network starting from the new timetable on December 15.

CZECH open-access operator Leo Express recorded a 25% increase in traffic in March on its services linking Prague, Ostrava and Bohumin. This contrasts with January which had weak growth.

    Bid deadline extended for Rio-São Paulo bullet train project supervision EPL, Brazil's national logistics and planning group, has extended the deadline to submit bids for a tender to supervise the contractors building the BRL35.6bn ($18bn) Rio de Janeiro-Sao Paulo-Campinas high-speed rail project from 23 April to 14 May 2013. 
          
    Bombardier wins German rail parts order
    Bombardier Transportation has won a €336m order to develop and supply components for Deutsche Bahn's (DB) next-generation ICx high-speed trains. 
          
    Network Rail unveils plans for new railway station in Rochester, UK
    Network Rail has unveiled plans to build a new £26m station on Corporation Street in Rochester, UK, as part of its aim to increase capacity and provide better facilities for passengers in Medway and Kent. 
          
    Loughor Viaduct project in Swansea nears completion
    Network Rail is due to complete a £48m project to replace the Loughor railway viaduct near Swansea, Wales, and redouble a 5.25-mile line from Gowerton to Llanelli.
