PAISLEY CANAL ELECTRIFICATION WORKS EXTENDED (Network Rail) 8th November 2012

To complete the electrification of the Paisley Canal line in time to operate electric trains in December, additional weekend and night time engineering works will take place between the 10th and 18th of November.

The extension of engineering works is due to the need to replace sections of cable stolen from the line earlier this month.
The temporary timetable put in place in September will now continue to apply until Monday the 19th of November.
This means there will be no services on Saturdays (10th and 17th) and early service closure Monday to Thursday (12th-15th). A normal service timetable will operate on Friday the 16th.

ScotRail has also arranged replacement bus services in both directions, calling at all stations, departing from Glasgow Central and Paisley Canal as timetabled. Paisley Canal rail tickets will also be valid for travel from Paisley Gilmour Street.

A Network Rail spokesman said: “We apologise for the short notice for these works and any inconvenience caused.
“Our engineers are working as quickly as possible to deliver the new infrastructure, but following the theft of a significant amount of cable from the line we have had no option but to slightly extend our engineering works.
“We remain confident that the project will be completed in time for the commencement of electric train services in December as planned.”
