Battlelines have been drawn by some extreme members of Congress working hard to derail California's visionary high speed rail project, including one member trying to stop it from bringing jobs and economic development to his very own district!
In a recent letter to the Surface Transportation Board, 13 Members of Congress representing congressional districts in California made an attempt to have the Surface Transportation Board delay the project by extending the public review period three extra months - into the time frame that could force the project to miss Federal mandated timelines affecting the $3.3 billion grant in ARRA funds. 16 Members of Congress followed up with letters to STB supporting HSR in the ASAP.

USHSR considers these HSR supporters today's heroes. "It's incredibly important for America on so many levels to get high speed rail underway quickly," said USHSR President Andy Kunz.
