CONGRESSIONAL BATTLE OVER HIGH SPEED RAIL
Battlelines have been drawn by some extreme members of Congress working hard to derail California's visionary high speed rail project, including one member trying to stop it from bringing jobs and economic development to his very own district!
In a recent letter to the Surface Transportation Board, 13 Members of Congress representing congressional districts in California made an attempt to have the Surface Transportation Board delay the project by extending the public review period three extra months - into the time frame that could force the project to miss Federal mandated timelines affecting the $3.3 billion grant in ARRA funds. 16 Members of Congress followed up with letters to STB supporting HSR in the ASAP.
Members of Congress working to DELAY the California project include:
    • Jeff Denham Where are we going, the past or future?
    • Kevin McCarthy
    • David Valadao
    • Devin Nunes
    • Ken Calvert
    • Darrell Issa
    • Buck McKeon
    • Ed Royce
    • Doug LaMalfa
    • John Campbell
    • Dana Rohrabacher
    • Duncan Hunter
    • Tom McClintock
    • Paul Cook
Members of Congress SUPPORTING California HSR include:

    • Zoe Lofgren CA HSR - YES to the future!
    • Janice Hahn
    • Jim Costa
    • Barbara Boxer
    • Dianne Feinstein
    • Frank Lautenberg
    • Richard Durbin
    • Louise Slaughter
    • Corrine Brown
    • David Price
    • George Miller
    • Michael Honda
    • Adam Schiff
    • Doris Matsui
    • André Carson
    • Paul Tonko

USHSR considers these HSR supporters today's heroes. "It's incredibly important for America on so many levels to get high speed rail underway quickly," said USHSR President Andy Kunz. "The visionary members of Congress fighting on the front lines for high speed rail are the heroes of today. It's clear they care deeply about fixing America."
This week, the Surface Transportation Board ruled in favor of CA HSR with the decision denying the request to extended the comment period. More information
