High speed rail is still to the fore, at least, discussion for and against is..
Amtrak and California are in the market for high speed trains, whilst in the UK a think tank suggests that the disadvantaged should be given jobs in connection with HS2, but Boris Johnson(London Mayor)'s father says that there should be a popular uprising against HS2!! Family members can be embarrassing, can't they!!

It would seem that we can learn something from the past...sugar, apparently prevents concrete hardening....or at least slows it up....which was good news for the unfortunate contractors who managed to pour concrete onto a serious piece of signalling equipment on the Victoria Line a day or so ago!
And as far as high speed trains are concerned, go east, young man, and learn from Japan!

The Lac- Megantic horrific accident has left its mark....where now with oil transit and safety issues? Well, the FRA has brought out some new regulations to prevent the likelihood of derailments....

Safe travelling this weekend, especially the millions in China preparing to travel for the Spring Festival season!
