International & UK Railway News Wednesday 23rd April 2014


As things move toward the 28th April 2014, and discussion in UK Parliament relating to the HS2 Hybrid Bill, we have a link to a parliamentary research paper...


There are plans for a Parkway station for Oxford, and the restoring of the link between Swanage and Wareham... and Boris Johnson suggests that Euston should be linked to St Pancras by tunnel...perhaps the Crossrail people can give one of its no longer needed TBMs!


The electrification of the Great Western Railway seems to be creating some difficulties in Wiltshire.. but Eurostar seems to be enjoying a profitable time currently...

High Speed Rail (London-West Midlands) Bill 2013-14 - Commons Library Research Paper

The Bill confers the powers required to construct Phase One of the proposed HS2 scheme from London Euston to Birmingham Curzon Street and Lichfield with intermediate stations in West London (Old Oak Common) and at Birmingham Airport.

    MP&ES launches natural-gas powered locomotive Greenville
    US-based locomotive provider Motive Power & Equipment Solutions (MP&ES) has launched the Greenville TM MP1500, a new ultra-low emissions, Gen-Set locomotive powered by a combination of natural gas and diesel fuels.
